Hi There, I’m Jo!

In my childhood I spent a lot of my time in a quilt shop. My mom was our town’s Kids Can Sew teacher. At home I had free rein to all her fabric scraps and embelishments. I made troll clothes, Barbie dresses and more tiny wedding gowns than any doll needed. A few were held together with a glue gun. It was magical.

That love of making never left. Today I teach beginner quilting, and watching someone finish their very first quilt is very exciting.

I also design quilt patterns and fabric. My first collection, Toucan Jungle with Phoebe Fabrics, is in quilt shops now. I’m still a little giddy about that.

When I’m not designing or quilting, I’m probably driving way too far to a quilt shop and quilt shows. 

Here’s something I’ve learned along the way, we need a time each week to sit down and quilt, and some friends to help with the block that’s being difficult or the quilt top hiding in the closet. (We all have one!)

My favourite part of any quilt? The story behind it. Who it’s for, why you chose those fabrics, what nearly made you quit. I’d love to hear yours.

I live in small town Saskatchewan, an hour and a half from the nearest quilt shop. This is part of why I started the Quilt Finishers Club. It can be hard to get together and quilt in person, sometimes it's the weather, hauling your machine around, or happily quilting in your pajamas.
