The Day the Sunrise Sunset Eggs Moved Into My New Quilt Studio Before I Did

The Day the Sunrise Sunset Eggs Moved Into My New Quilt Studio Before I Did

By Jo Simpson

Some studio stories start with paint swatches or a new sewing machine. Mine started with eggs. Sunrise Sunset eggs, to be specific.
A shout out to Jessica Swift's gorgeous Sunrises Sunset fabric collection from Art Gallery Fabrics.

When I first stepped into my brand new quilt studio ready to get started transforming it, I thought the room would be empty.
But no, the universe had other plans. Nestled right there on the studio floor in a little pile of Sunrise Sunset fabrics, were three little eggs.

I paused, then immediately thought, “Wow, they have great taste.”

Floor Nest Feng Shui

There they were, the three Sunrise Sunset eggs, cozied up in the prettiest fabric, like they’d curated their own little nest.
Honestly?

It was adorable.
Like tiny interior designers who had arrived early for move in day.
They looked so comfortable and so at home.
And I thought:
“Well, I guess someone already likes this studio.”

Then they moved

I left the studio for one night, just one and  when I walked back in the next morning (fully expecting to see them still snuggled in their fabric palette on the floor) they were gone.
Not gone, gone, just relocated.
Because the eggs had taken it upon themselves to move to my desk.
My soon to be literal workspace.
My soon to be creative command center.

Like, “Hi, we live here now.”
“Also, your desk is ours.”
“Hope that’s cool.”

Creativity Arrives Before We Do

Before I had moved in a single thing
these three Sunrise Sunset eggs made the whole studio feel alive and full of possibility.
It was like creativity silently whispered:
“I got here early. Let’s make something magical.”
And the eggs?
They were just the messengers.

What Happens Next?

Since that first weekend, the eggs have continued their tiny adventures,
shifting, rearranging, and settling deeper into the space.

And between you and me?
I think they’re just getting started.

Stay tuned because the Sunrise Sunset eggs have impeccable taste and apparently no intention of staying put.
