Sewing Easy Dog Bandanas For Easter.
Easter is just around the corner, and you know what that means – it's time to dress up your dog or dogs! One of the easiest ways to add some festive flair to your dog's look is by making them a cute handmade bandana. And the best part? It's a fun and easy sewing project that even beginners can tackle!
Why Dog Bandanas For Easter?
There are several reasons why Easter dog bandanas are a fun option to consider for your furry friend.
- First are super quick and easy to make up in an hour or so.
- Second, they add a festive touch and make your dog look even more adorable.
- Third, they serve as a great conversation starter.
- Lastly, you'll have fun taking photos.
Fabric For Easter Dog Bandanas
I have some special soft Easter fabric that I won from Plain Janes & Co quilt shop in Leavenworth, Kansas. Thank you Jane and Beth! It's from the Hoppy Easter collection by Kim Schaefer for Andover Fabrics. I think you'll agree that it's super cute and will be perfect for some easy dog bandanas.
Once you've chosen your fabric, all you need is some basic sewing supplies and a few measurements to create a perfectly fitted accessory for your pup. I also have a short class called "How To Sew Pup Bandanas: Sewing For Beginners", if you'd like to follow along step by step with videos:

Cutting and Sewing the Fabric For The Easter Dog Bandana
Templates
Make a template to use to cut out the fabric. Keep it if you want to make more for all the holidays.
- Extra Small (Yorkie, Chihuahua): 8" collar, 1 1/2" edge, 6" length
- Small (Pug, Boston Terrier): 12" collar, 2" edge, 8" length
- Medium (Collie, Retriever): 14" collar, 4" edge, 10" length
- Large (St. Bernard, Bernese Mountain Dog): 16" collar, 4" edge, 12" length
This one shows the small size. The collar is the width, the edge is vertical edge length, the length is the longest part in the middle to the bandana point.
Cutting
Using your template cut out 2 pieces of fabric to make your bandana reversible.
Sewing
1. With right sides together sew the top seam together with 1/4" seam allowance.
2. Fold right and left sides in 1/2" to wrong side and then after that sew it 1/8" from the edge.
3. With right sides together sew the bottom point together with a 1/4" seam allowance. Make sure you leave the edge open near the top because the collar will need to go in the dog bandana.
4. Clip bottom corner, as a result you won't have as bulky of a point.
5. Turn right side out.
6. Press.
7. Topstitch 1/8" on the bottom point, again leaving the edge opening for the collar.
8. Ta-da! That's it your Easter dog bandana is done!
I can't wait to see what fabric you choose and how your pup(s) look all dressed up for Easter, or anytime for that matter.
Please tag me on IG or send some pics in an email and I'll be sure to feature your cute pup wearing it's new bandana.
Happy Sewing!
